Black Mountain Truffle Adventure

This tour takes you on a step-by-step discovery of The Black Mountains or, as the French call them, Les montagnes noires! The ground on which you will walk produces beautiful things, from decadent truffles to cepe mushrooms, for you to see and partake in as part of this discovery.

Starting the journey at La Maison de la Truffe (Truffle H.Q) in nearby Villeneuve, you will learn about the culture, history, and gourmet use of truffles. You will then start winding your way up the Black Mountains to a lovely picnic spot, you will be in awe of the breathtaking scenery and picturesque environment.

The picnic lunch comes complete with exquisite wine pairings, fantastic foods with of course! Truffles , and views looking back towards the distant Corbières region. After lunch, you will walk off the food with a jaunt through the forest ( you may find your own truffles or cepes !).

The final adventure is a visit to Borie de Maurel, a small family-owned winery, to taste their outstanding wines “voted the best red in the Minervois”. A fitting end to a day full of enjoying the finest things nature has to offer you!

10:00 — You will be picked up and taken on a scenic drive to the Haut-Languedoc Regional Nature Park, home of the Black Mountain region. Along the way, you will enjoy a stop in Villeneuve-Minervois at La Maison de la Truffe to learn about truffles and stock up on supplies before heading off for the picnic of a lifetime.

13:00 — After ascending the Black Mountains and finding the perfect picnic spot, lunch will be cooked on Taste du Languedoc’s mobile kitchen. You will dine on truffles, cep mushrooms, local cheeses, grilled local meats, and seafood while enjoying the most incredible scenery. Lunch will be served with a comprehensive wine tasting of hearty reds from the nearby Cabardès region and some delicious whites from Limoux—all of this in a magnificent mountainous setting. There is even plenty of time for a walk in the forest, keeping your eyes peeled for mushrooms.

15:00 — The adventure continues to Félines-Minervois to visit and taste the outstanding wines of Borie de Maurel, whose cuvée sylla has been voted the “best red wine in the Minervois”.

17:00 — You will be returned to your accommodations at the end of your wine tour experience.
